My name is Ezinne (Eh-Zee-Nay). I am a doctoral student at UCLA.

In 4 short points:

  • The Books. Reading both non-fiction and fiction books in diverse genres allows me to think creatively and consider new approaches to solving issues that arise in my work.
  • The Stories. I love good stories, and I like them more when they represent my experiences or that of people I know. For me, these types of stories are often in the books and short stories written by African authors.
  • The Characters. So that we are all on the same page (not literally), I read for the characters and their experiences and not to critique the author’s work.
  • The Experience. Reading is a personal experience. For example, Chigozie Obioma’s, The Fishermen, broke my heart into pieces (in a good way, of course)! Still, for other readers, it was a lukewarm debut novel. Find what you like and don’t stop reading.

I have too many “favorite books” to count. My apologies that I can not list them all here. Please know that I am always ready and willing to make suggestions for your next read. Feel free to contact me with questions or book recommendations. I’ll do my best to respond.
